James M. Shea, Jr. and Roger Lobbezoo founded the Hoboken Cigar Club (HCC) in May 2002 to share their knowledge of cigars with individuals who enjoy a good smoke. The Hoboken Cigar Club is a non-profit organization whose members share a love for fine cigars. Club events provide the perfect arena for networking, making friends and exploring Hoboken 's cigar-friendly venues. The goal of the HCC is to promote cigar etiquette and educate those enthusiasts within the community who enjoy smoking cigars. The Club actively seeks places and plans outings to give its members a comfortable environment to relax and smoke cigars.

The Club has grown to more than 65 members of various ages and professions (and yes, including distinguished ladies). The Club is proudly affiliated with The Smoke Shop, the local tobacconist in Hoboken on 235 Hudson St. Our local venue is Helmers' Cafe & restaurant, home of our monthly smoke. We encourage local businesses and larger corporations to support the club at organized events to help create new business opportunities and provide our members with sample products or services.
